Student Center:
The Lawrence Academy, Groton, MA
Working initially with students and faculty in a learning workshop, Richard Tremaglio designed an adaptable building to accommodate the diverse recreational activities of current and future teen-agers. The 3500 sq.ft. masonry and timber building, partially heated by low-tech passive solar energy, is barn-like in a meadow facing a playing field, and forms a home ground for dancing, snacking, reading, television, concerts, table games and cross-country skiing.
